  The
Club is for anyone interested in flying Model Planes or Helicopters,
especially in the Derbyshire, Cheshire or Staffordshire areas
of the UK.
High Peak Model Aero Club has a membership with an age range of
11 to 70+, drawn from a radius of about 25 miles around Buxton
in Derbyshire. The sport is an all-the-year-round activity involving
building skills, engineering and electronics and some computer
control together with flying skills on models, which are controlled
and flown in the same way as their full size equivalents

  A
good number of members hold BMFA qualifications at "A"
and "B" level and we have four BMFA Examiners as Club
Members. We have some fun Competitions for spins, loops and spot
landings. We have helicopter competitions for the advanced rotary
wing flying. Three of our helicopter fliers competed in the Schluter
Cup at Market Bosworth in 1998. And the latest craze in the Club
is slope flying the EPP "rubber" models in "combat
flying" - they bounce! The key things about flying with us
are enjoying yourself in whichever type of flying interests you
but doing it.

 We are
able to provide advice for newcomers to the sport in all aspects
of building and equipping models, buying equipment, and when ready
for the air, training in flying with Club instructors who have
access to transmitters with "Buddy Leads". This enables
newcomers to have early "hands on experience" of model
flying . Our first advice, if you are interested, is to visit
our site at High Edge, any Wednesday or Sunday. Just turn up and
say to someone - "we'd like to know more about model aircraft
flying". Club members will be delighted to explain how it
all works! Bring a print of this page with you and we will know
how you found out about us. Alternatively, call in for a chat
at our monthly meetings at the Railway Hotel in Buxton - 8.00pm
on the first Monday each month. If you decide you would like to
get involved, new members are always welcome.
